Abstract The Mirim and Patos Lagoons form the largest lagoon complex in South America. Wind is one of dominant climatic elements circulation water levels basin. Therefore, we aimed to better understand effects wind on Mirim–São Gonçalo watershed by applying MGB hydrological model assess whether it would produce satisfactory results for modeling. Various tests were performed determine best representation processes involved observed levels. obtained with inclusion sub-daily data simulation also downstream boundary condition using level at sluice dam São channel. showed that could successfully simulate demonstrated importance including when modeling hydrodynamic large lake environments.
